When color becomes unnecessary

When you strip something down into its raw form, it's essence is all you have left.
If that something has power, meaning, and soul... the color becomes unnecessary.

Music is often nothing more than white noise in a hustled life. Just another way for us to fill a gap with distraction. However, when artists are able to capture that Something then music has the ability to change...

It's no longer just the vibration of strings mixed with a clash of wood and cymbals. It's the power behind the music to get your head bouncing right and left, the meaning of the lyrics that instantly brings you back to a powerful memory, and the soul that makes you close your eyes and feel like it was written for you and you alone.

That is when music is more than noise for distraction... It's an experience that moves you.

Lost it somewhere along the line

Weightless

If you saw the mobile uploads I posted last night.... Let me tell you where I was!

A great friend of mine is bringing music back to the Willamette Valley in a big way. David Samuel is an accomplished musician with a big project on his plate. Last night I got the chance to see him play a private show at the secluded New Destiny Studio. An amazing group of local artist played late into the night. The David Samuel Project mixes diverse musical styles into a "venue-rattling" sound. The small studio was filled with friends as the rain tapping on the roof added a third musician to the already impressive duo. The artists moved between stage lights and microphones while we found our favorite places among guitars, mixing boards, and effects pedals.

This is the whole idea...

The bringing together of outstanding local artists and a community looking for an incredible experience mixing entrainment and soul. I cannot begin to tell you how excited I am for events like this to keep growing! For a community struggling the last few years, Samuel wants to bring shows like these to remove, even if just for a night, audiences from the day to day. After last nights show I can honestly say he has done it. Halfway through the set the rain pick up and the lights dimmed. While I was surrounded by music and moving with the rhythm, small town Oregon was the last thing on my mind.

Check out his site, The David Samuel Project!

You can see photos, video, and listen to his music. If you like what you hear (I am confident you will) you can buy his songs from the site.

PLEASE SUPPORT THIS PROJECT!

Momentum is growing fast! Samuel is very excited to add shows, artists, and (most importantly) the opportunity for YOU to experience great live music!

The next chance to see him live is coming up!
